The Edson area has an abundance of excellent fishing lakes and rivers. Lakes containing northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and lake whitefish are supported by natural reproduction, however, in a few lakes the walleye populations have been supplemented with hatchery stocks. Most of the trout fisheries in lakes are maintained by stocking because few lakes have suitable spawning habitat.
Camping facilities are available in town and in the neighbouring areas. For further information, inquiries may be made at the Tourist Information Centre located in the Town's Centennial Park (780-723-4918) or at the Town of Edson Civic Centre (780-723-4401). Either will be happy to send you a copy of "Edson, West Central Alberta's Fishing Bonanza" that includes area fishing tips and maps.
